How many submissions have you gotten so far? I am just curious. Thanks!
Right now we have three submissions in hand and are in conversations with three to four other people. We are looking for a total of either 8 or twelve presentations. If you have an idea get it to us pronto!
Did anyone submit any proposals to open a research mini-track? If yes, I’d like to help out, if no, I’d like to submit something.
I would like to give a technical presentation/session about the challenges I had to develop the software for the Slash! model contest. I will not be able to fill a complete mini track, but I can present more technical background information about the contest software in one hour.
The software is made up of in world objects that talk to a number of JAVA servlets running on a JBoss application server (which runs on a Mac Pro at home, grins). The data is stored in a MySQL database. A second avatar is running under control of a mono application that does some additional data gathering.
I think this presentation is interesting for any developer wanting to do serious data storing , manipulation and presenting.
The January 2008 Slash! contest had over 70,000 votes for close to 2,000 contestants. Every single item was stored in the database.
Currently, the February/March contest is running, have a look at http://slurl.com/secondlife/SLASH/74/121/24
